What To Consider When Renting a Photo Booth for Your Wedding

Photo booths have become increasingly popular at weddings, so perhaps you’re considering them for your nuptials. However, you should carefully choose the right style for your celebration.

Many couples rush into booking without considering the details that contribute to their photo booth experience. The cheapest option or flashiest setup might not be for you depending on your wedding theme. Bearing that in mind, here’s what to consider when renting a photo booth for your wedding.

Know Your Space Requirements

Carefully measure the space at your wedding venue before making photo booth rental commitments. Most photo booths require an area of eight feet by eight feet, but some larger setups need even more room.

Consider the flow of your reception when choosing a location for the photo booth. The booth should be easily accessible but not block pathways or interfere with other activities, like dancing or dining. If your venue has restrictions on decorations or equipment, that could also affect your photo booth setup.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Considerations

Indoor venues offer more predictable conditions, but you still need to check ceiling height and electrical outlet availability. Outdoor weddings introduce challenges, including access to power and weather issues. For instance, wind can affect backdrop stability, and bright sunlight could interfere with photo quality.

Budget Planning and Package Options

Photo booth rental costs vary widely based on location, duration, and included features. Basic rental packages typically start at around $400 to $600 for a few hours, while premium options with unlimited prints and props can cost $1,000 or more.

Different package tiers offer varying features. Basic packages might include the booth rental and a few props, while deluxe packages could feature custom backdrops, attendant services, and digital copies of all photos.

Technology and Photo Quality Features

Traditional enclosed booths offer privacy and classic charm, while open-air setups accommodate larger groups and provide more flexibility. Instant cameras produce physical photos, and digital systems offer high-quality images with sharing options.

Modern photo booth rental services often include green screen technology, slow-motion video capabilities, and social media uploads. These features can enhance your guests’ experience but might not be necessary for every type of wedding. Consider which technology features align with your vision and budget.

Print Options and Customization

You can get photo strip layouts customized with your names, wedding date, and special designs that match your wedding theme. You can also print on different photo sizes or formats, from traditional strips to postcard-style prints. Think about whether you want black-and-white photos, color prints, or both.

Rental Duration and Timing

Most photo booth rentals are booked for three to four hours, but the timing matters as much as the duration. During cocktail hour, having a photo booth lets guests arriving early start the fun, but peak use normally happens during reception dancing hours.

Consider your wedding timeline when scheduling photo booth hours. If you’re having a long reception, you might want the booth available for the entire event. However, if your budget is tight, focusing on the high-energy portions of your reception might be more cost-effective.

Attendant Services and Setup Requirements

Professional attendants help guests use the equipment, encourage participation, and keep things running smoothly. They can also help with technical issues and maintain the prop area throughout your event. While attendants add to the cost, they often provide value in terms of guest experience and problem prevention.

DIY vs. Full-Service Options

You might consider allowing guests to use an open-style photo booth themselves, but unlike a traditional booth, these require someone to monitor the equipment. The best thing you can do is trust an attendant to protect everyone’s safety and guarantee a good time.

Physical vs. Digital Copies

While digital copies are convenient for sharing and storing, physical prints provide immediate gratification for guests. Many couples appreciate both options. Consider whether you want duplicates of every photo or select favorites printed physically.

Social media integration allows guests to share photos instantly. However, you may prefer to review all the photos before sharing them.

Company Reputation and Reviews

Online reviews are insightful, real experiences from people who enjoyed their photo booth experience. Look for consistent positive feedback about equipment reliability, photo quality, and customer service. You can also check the service’s social media presence to see how they engage with their following.

Ask for references from recent weddings, particularly ones similar to yours in size and style. Time Into Pixels Photo Booth can demonstrate our work quality and style capabilities, so don’t hesitate to request sample photos from us!

Contract Terms and Cancellation Policies

Read rental contracts carefully, paying attention to cancellation policies, equipment failure procedures, and weather contingencies for outdoor events. Understand what happens if the company can’t fulfill its commitment due to equipment problems or other issues. Having clear terms protects both parties and reduces stress.

Match Your Wedding Style and Theme

Always consider how well a photo booth fits your wedding aesthetic before renting one. A rustic wedding might benefit from a vintage-style booth with wooden props, while a modern celebration could feature sleek digital displays and contemporary backdrops.

The photo booth should complement your other wedding elements as well. Consider how the booth’s appearance will look in your venue and whether you need to make adjustments to your decorations.

Guest Experience and Accessibility

Think about your guest list when planning photo booth features. If many guests are older or less tech-savvy, simpler equipment might work better than complex digital systems. Consider whether the booth setup accommodates guests with mobility issues or other accessibility needs.

Group size accommodation varies between booth styles. Traditional enclosed booths limit group sizes, but open-air setups can handle larger parties. Think about your typical guest groups; choose equipment that comfortably accommodates your friends and family.

Making Your Choice

After considering all these factors, create a comparison chart of your top choices. Include pricing, features, availability, and value in your evaluation. Don’t automatically choose the cheapest option, as quality and service can justify higher costs.

Schedule consultations to discuss your specific needs and see the equipment in person. This personal interaction helps you gauge the company’s professionalism and determine whether they understand your vision.

Your wedding day deserves a photo booth experience that brings joy to your guests. Now that you know what to consider when renting a photo booth for your wedding, you’re ready to review your options, ask detailed questions, and select a company that shares your commitment to making your wedding celebration unforgettable.

Glam Booth Rental

Glam Booth Rental

A Glam Booth rental is one of our favorite and most popular types of photo booth rentals! This upscale black and white filter is popular among Hollywood celebrities and is always a wow factor at our events. Our software retouches the images on-the-fly, adds skin smoothing, and adjusts the contrast. Your guests will look their best and have a one-of-a-kind keepsake to take home. Our Glam Booth rentals offer the same perks as our open style photo booth. They also provide a cutting-edge aesthetic that most guests have never seen before. After all, pretty much everyone experienced a photo booth and people know what to expect, but hardly anyone experienced a Glam Booth! We include 4×6 prints with this type of booth in our basic package. We also have a 5×7 upgrade available as well as a 5×7 metallic luxury paper that makes your images look spectacular!

Wedding At The Broz

This particular Glam Booth rental took place at Wedding At The Broz in New Prague – a historic venue built in 1898. The building changed its ownership several times since then, but all of the owners were always focused on preserving and restoring the original beauty. Original tin ceilings, beams, and stained glass are still featured throughout the space. The ballroom provides a perfect setting for a wedding and we enjoy working there every time.

Our couple went for a very simple graphic on their prints and with their rental. They received an attendant, unlimited prints as well as a guest book where their guests were able to write a wish for the newlyweds. Our Glam Booth rentals don’t include props which makes photographs timeless and a bit more formal. It works well for black tie weddings where couples are looking to create an upscale photo experience for their guests.

The Earl And Wilson Event Center And It’s Rustic Elegance

Step Back In Time

Imagine walking into an old building and immediately being transported to another era. Beautiful wood floors, brick walls, and crystal chandeliers give an aura of elegance and class. Sitting on a velvet chair in the lounge, looking out one of the large windows, makes it easy to imagine being in another time. The Earl and Wilson Event Center is located in historic Lowertown in Saint Paul, MN. Built in the 1800s, Victorian charm comes to life in this unique setting.

Making The Most Of Your Venue

We were given the opportunity to set up a photo booth for a wedding at the event center. Special backdrops only enhanced the sophisticated atmosphere, utilizing the chandeliers and brick. Working with Bre Ward, the wedding planner, we were able to make the most of the beauty already available. Guests enjoyed making memories and were able to take home a lasting reminder of the special day. The bride and groom also received a book with photo strips their guests had taken. Guests added their congrats and wishes for the couple, a distinct touch to a beautiful keepsake. Each venue has its own feel, something that makes it unique, and each event is centered around people that are even more special and unique. Finding the right style for a photo booth is a challenge we take seriously. We want each occasion to stand out and be exactly what the host intended it to be.

The Gift Of Memories

Family and friends are always more than thankful to be a part of your special day. A wedding is a momentous occasion,  and everyone loves to be a part of the celebration. Pictures are the only visual reminder, a way to visit the past and also share with future generations. Photo booths give guests a fun way to relax and enjoy themselves and a way to thank them for being a part of your life. Let us help you add excitement to your wedding. Contact us to see the many options available.

Bloom Lake Barn Wedding Photo Booth

This Bloom Lake Barn wedding photo booth we provided for Christopher and Alexandria was amazing – it was such a pleasure to be a part of this wedding in Shafer, Minnesota.

This couple has the cutest story! We couldn’t help but share a little snippet from their website, from their furry friend, Frankie’s, perspective.

“Dog Mom (Alexandria) was a third-year veterinary student with big dreams of satisfying the career gods and moving to Switzerland hand-in-paw with her best [dog] friend, yours truly. With an interview on the horizon and a need to brush up on some German, she agreed to have coffee with Christopher, a fellow German speaking lad with a weakness for freckles and a heart made of gold.

It wasn’t long before conversations in German turned into dances in kitchens, joy rides on tandem bicycles, playdates in nature, getting Alexandria’s hands dirty with sourdough, and teaching Christopher The Way of Frankie Lou Dog (i.e. constant treat-filled pockets).  These two love birds have found love, peace and happiness in each other, and I have deemed it fit to adopt Christopher to be my Dog Dad. “

The entire day was flawlessly executed, as always, by one of our favorite Minnesota wedding planners, Blush + Whim at the beautiful Bloom Lake Barn.

We hope they’re enjoying their new home in SWITZERLAND!
